Welcome to the Flourish 2011 Open Source Conference site! Our goal is to promote the use of open source software and provide an annual gathering place in Chicago for open source enthusiasts. This will be the fifth anniversary of the Flourish conference. As usual, the conference is free to everyone and all are invited to participate.

I hope everyone had fun at Flourish Open Source Conference 2011, we'd like to receive some feedback to help improve the conference for next year. We already have several changes in mind but more feedback would be great. We'd love the good and bad feedback and do remember you will remain anonymous (just submit when not logged in to drupal).

For the Flourish 2011 Hack-a-thon, we have teamed up with the Python Software Foundation (PSF) to host an official PSF sponsored Python Sprint! By participating in the Flourish Python Sprint, you'll have an opportunity to contribute to more than just a project but to the Python language itself (or one of its popular frameworks). Contributing at the Flourish Python Sprint is also an excellent way to give back to the open source community.

Registration is finally open! Please go for it especially if you're not a UIC student and would like internet access and/or want a t-shirt, which is always a good thing.

Concurrent to the events from Apr 1st - 3rd, Flourish will host its fifth annual mini-expo where attendees come to peruse the perimeter laced with tables representing local open source friendly nonprofit organizations and bigger companies. The BSD Certification Group (BSDCG) is pleased to offer the BSDA certification exam to attendees of Flourish! 2011.
The exam will be paper based and in English. Exam information is available from the Certification page of the BSDCG website (http://www.bsdcertification.org/certification/associate.html). Exam candidates should be proficient in the BSDA Certification Requirements and the Command Reference, both of which are available for free download from this page of the website.
Participants need to register for a BSDCG ID at http://www.bsdcertification.org/certification/associate.html. Once you have an ID, you can choose an exam location and pay for the exam. The exam price is $75 USD and payable through Paypal or credit card.
