About the Event

IBM will be hosting the Flourish Networking Event, which will take place immediately following Friday's on-campus events. The Networking Event will be held at the IBM Innovation Center on the sixth floor of the Hyatt Center at 71 S. Wacker Dr. (across from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange). This is your chance to mingle with other enthusiasts and key influencers in the open source community. You will also get a chance to check out IBM's award-winning "2001 Space Odyssey"-style Chicago offices and take a tour of the datacenter. There will be free pizza and (non-alcoholic) beverages available.

Admission to the Flourish Networking Event is free for all Flourish attendees. Preregistration is required. Please bring your name badge from the Flourish on-campus event if possible (though we will have blanks on-hand).

Preregistration Required

Preregistration is required so that we will know how many people are coming, the proper amount of food to order and so that building security has your name. If you have not yet registered for the Flourish conference, simply check the box to opt-in for the Networking Event when you do register. If you have already registered for Flourish and did not check the box to opt-in for the networking event, simply send an email to This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it with the subject heading "NETWORKING EVENT" and the names of those who plan to attend.

Transportation

This section describes how to get to the IBM Innovation Center from UIC Student Center East. 

By Foot:

1. Walk northbound (across I-290) on Halsted St. to Monroe St.
2. Walk eastbound (across the Chicago River) on Monroe St. to Wacker Dr.
3. Building 71 S. Wacker Dr. will be on the left-hand side of the street when facing east on Monroe St. 

By Bus:

1. Take CTA Bus #60 (Blue Island/26th) eastbound from Harrison St. and Halsted St.
2. Get off at Monroe St. and Franklin St.
3. Building 71 S. Wacker Dr. will be on the left-hand side of the street when facing south on Franklin St.

By Taxi Cab:
Taxis are generally plentiful along Halsted St., but due to the potential volume of attendees, we suggest that you call a local Taxi Cab company a few minutes ahead of when you plan to leave. We recommend Chicago Yellow Cab, which can be reached at 1-(312)-829-4222.
