Certification Exams


Registration for LPI exams at the Flourish Conference is available by emailing LPI.

Please indicate preferred exam(s) and time slot(s) when registering for exam events. To participate in the exam labs you must obtain an LPI ID at LPI's registration area: https://www.lpi.org/caf/Xamman/register

On the day of the exam, candidates may make payment for their exams onsite 15 minutes prior to the exam lab by cheque. Exams may also be paid for in advance by PayPal or credit card with LPI. Each exam takes approximately 90 minutes to complete.

In addition, along with their exam payment, candidates should bring their LPI ID and a government issued photo identification to the exam lab.

All three levels of LPI certification (LPIC-1, LPIC-2 and LPIC-3) will be offered at these events. The promotional price for all exams will be $99 US (regularly $173), except for LPI-301 (the LPIC-3 certification exam) which will be $219 US (regularly $260). All of these will be offered at both exam times. You will have a choice of taking two different versions for the two time slots provided. See schedule below.

LPI exams will be proctored by Dru Lavigne of The BSD Certification Group. Ms.Lavigne will be offering BSD Certification exams at these events. For more information on their program please visit their website.

The BSD Certification Group (BSDCG) is pleased to offer the BSDA certification exam to attendees of Flourish! 2011.

The exam will be paper based and in English. Exam information is available from the Certification page of the BSDCG website (http://www.bsdcertification.org/certification/associate.html). Exam candidates should be proficient in the BSDA Certification Requirements and the Command Reference, both of which are available for free download from this page of the website.

Participants need to register for a BSDCG ID at http://www.bsdcertification.org/certification/associate.html. Once you have an ID, you can choose an exam location and pay for the exam. The exam price is $75 USD and payable through Paypal or credit card.

About the BSD Certification Group

The BSD Certification Group (BSDCG) is a non-profit organization committed to creating and maintaining a global certification standard for system administration on BSD based operating systems. The BSDCG works with the BSD and sysadmin communities in order to provide a practical and relevant certification.

The BSDA certification is designed to be an entry-level certification on BSD Unix systems administration. The successful BSDA candidate is able to complete common administrative and troubleshooting tasks and has a good understanding of general BSD Unix and networking principles.

Science and Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is located at 950 S. Halsted St, Chicago, IL

2284 is located on the "red-tiled" side of the building and is near the center of the building. You should enter the building on the door closest to Taylor street and immediately take a right to go to the stairs. Directions will be posted the day of the exam in the building.
